How do I preview a study?
Click Built at the top of the study page to open the respondent view in a new tab. Use it to check the study from start to finish before you freeze a version for respondents.
Open the preview
Section titled “Open the preview”The first of the three steps across the top of the study page reads Build while the study is still a plan, and Built once it has blocks. Built is what opens the preview.
Preview opens in a separate tab and shows a banner that identifies the run as a preview. Keep the study open in the original tab, make changes there, then reload the preview to check them.
What Preview shows
Section titled “What Preview shows”Preview follows the same block order and study logic as the respondent flow. You can check:
- Questions, instructions, answer options, and required fields.
- Images, prototypes, websites, and other assets.
- Intake screening and other paths through the study.
- The handoff from one block to the next.
What Preview does differently
Section titled “What Preview does differently”Preview is a safe check, not a live response:
- A preview banner remains visible.
- Answers are not saved and do not appear in results.
- Recordings are not captured.
- Completion redirects do not run.
This means Preview can confirm the study’s content and flow, but not every part of a live launch.
Before you launch
Section titled “Before you launch”Run every path you expect respondents to take. Check that assets load without your account context and that screening sends each respondent to the intended next step.
Return to the editor to fix anything you find. When the preview is ready, launch the version you want respondents to see.
