How do I set up a synth test?
Open the study and click Test with AI. Fiuto opens a three-step panel, and the first step is where you choose who takes part. It starts with three synth testers, and you can add up to two more.
A synth tester is an AI that goes through your study from start to finish, the way a person would. Fiuto works the first three out from the product info on your account, so their roles match the audience you described there.
Choose who takes part
Section titled “Choose who takes part”Step 1 is headed Who takes part. A list on the left holds everyone in the run. Click a row to open that tester in the pane beside it, and work on one at a time.
One row is one tester. There is no number to set and no separate count of responses: three rows means three testers, and five is the most a run holds.
- Click a row to open it in the pane.
- Edit the tester there.
- Click Add tester to add another.
- Click Remove in the pane to take one out.
A line under the list keeps count, for example 3 testers. 2 slots free, either kind. Once the run is full it reads Up to 5 per run. Remove one to add another.
What each synth tester carries
Section titled “What each synth tester carries”Every tester carries one profile, and it holds three things.
- Role. What this tester is. Fiuto offers roles from your product audience first, and you can type your own.
- How they behave. What this tester brings to your study, in your own words.
- Domain familiarity. Whether the tester knows the field or is new to it. Fiuto works this out from the role and your product info, so you change it by changing the role.
One profile per tester. To see how a second kind of person reads your study, add a second tester.
Add an AI expert
Section titled “Add an AI expert”One of the free slots can hold an AI expert instead of a tester. A run holds one, and only when your study has something under test: a prototype, a website, a design, or your own words.
An AI expert opens that thing and gives an opinion on it. It does not run your study, and it does not judge the study itself: not the questions you ask, not how the tasks are set up, not how the study is put together. For feedback on the study, use Review on the study page.
Pick a specialism before you continue. Fiuto offers six: accessibility, information architecture, visual design, interaction design, content design, and usability heuristics. Each one names what it looks at, and the panel waits until you have picked one.
The expert’s answer comes back reported separately from what your testers did.
On a study made only of questions there is nothing to open. Fiuto removes the control rather than showing one that cannot work, and a line in its place says so.
Move through the three steps
Section titled “Move through the three steps”The panel has three steps, and the heading names the one you are on.
- Who takes part. The testers, their profiles, and any AI expert.
- What will differ. How a synth run differs from a launch with real respondents.
- Start the run. A recap of who is about to run the study, then Start.
Click Back to return to an earlier step. Fiuto keeps your edits, so you can change a role from the recap and come forward again without losing anything.
Nothing runs until you click Start on the last step.
